One sweet ride can be life-changing in terms of lifting the training spirits I find!
Being so sun-soaked and surrounded by good views that you forget your sweat and gasping for air is magical :D Ignorance truly is bliss!
Spending the summer in Matamata really showed off new places in NZ and let me be free to explore anywhere. For a uni student like myself, the novelty of having weekends OFF doesn't wear off! The opportunity to disappear for as many hours as need be allowed for me to visit so many places, travel many kms and just feel like I was completely free!
(though home still feels like home sweet home...especially due to the presence of food).
Sometimes my passion outlasts my physical ability but hey... "what doesn'y kill you makes you stronger", right!? :P :)
For example, there was an awesome looking berry farm 52km from Matamata near Cambridge and so coming from doing 20minute bursts riding to+from work each day and one day a fortnight of group rides about 1.5hrs long... I thought I wanna check out that berry farm... but I don't want to pay petrol money so I can afford plenty of berries...so I'mma bike.
Yep...just like that a 104m solo ride was on the table! And I did it. Without food. With a head wind. The ride home with frozen berries in my backpack was surprisingly nice- a portable cooler pack for me on the sunny summer day- bonus!
Well spent afternoon with a good suntan built up, first ever 100km+ ride and $$ the berries were delicious ---> fresh raspberries are heaven on earth...thanks to the Lord for bringing his little slices of heaven onto earth for us to enjoy! I can't wait to taste the food in heaven :o Going to be literally out of this world! :) :P
